Atletico Madrid Extends Bwin Partnership

The 2017/18 campaign ended in Europa League glory for Atletico Madrid and their hard-working manager Diego Simeone and the club has wasted no time in looking ahead to next season.

Ultimately it was a successful time on the pitch but now attention turns to the boardroom and financial affairs. As part of their plans for 2018/19 and beyond, Atleti have announced the renewal of their successful betting partnership with the Bwin sportsbook.

Looking Ahead

The arrangement has been extended to 2020 for now and although the financial details have not been made public, it would take a multi million figure for any operator to get involved with a club as big as Atletico Madrid.

The existing deal has been in place since 2017 and it will continue to give the Bwin brand great exposure via a number of channels. Their name will be prominently displayed on advertising within Atleti’s stadium while digital options will continue via social media and the club’s official website.

In return, the operator will be looking to expand the list of benefits available to fans of Atletico Madrid. Supporters can therefore expect unique experiences and while the exact details have not been announced, it could be assumed that those fans will see competitions for tickets and other match packages.

Good Health

Bwin’s Head of Marketing Pablo Ferreira stated:

Bwin’s association with Atlético de Madrid is in good health. And for us it was a priority to ensure its continuity.

We could not have chosen a better time to announce this renewal agreement now that we are celebrating the third Europa League of the team. We hope to continue growing. And making history with Atleti many more years.

In response, the club have merely stated that the deal

Positions Bwin at the center of our club’s promotional activities.

Important Summer

Antoine Griezmann

Atleti are set to lose two of their most famous strikers ahead of the 2017/18 season and the club will therefore need to work hard and spend those finances wisely as they identify new targets.

We already know for certain that Fernando Torres has left Madrid and at 34, his own future remains uncertain. Torres wasn’t as prolific during his second spell with Atleti but he was certainly a useful member of the squad who could score useful goals at times.

Meanwhile, rumours of Antoine Griezmann’s departure remain as speculation but there is a strong possibility that Atletico Madrid’s most productive forward has kicked his last ball for the club.

Atleti will retain the services of Diego Costa but they will clearly need further firepower to reinforce their squad and while the club will receive a huge transfer fee for Griezmann if he does depart, every financial contract is important if they are going to spend big in return in order to get the best possible replacements.

Simeone’s side finished second in La Liga and they claimed that Europa League trophy but if they are to improve further and make more of an impression in the Champions League, funding is vital even for a club of their size so the extension with betting partner Bwin is a timely announcement.
