GrosvenorSport Set to Sponsor Celebration Mile at Goodwood

Table of Contents

As we know, Grosvenor are one of the biggest providers of casino play in the world but they are working hard to make us more aware of their sportsbook operation. As part of any drive to bring greater brand awareness, sponsor deals can play an important part and, having just got involved in the world of football, the company has just struck up an interesting arrangement with one of the UK’s finest Group Two horse races.

We’re set for a Glorious Goodwood across the Bank Holiday weekend and as part of the Festival, GrosvenorSport will be sponsoring the Celebration Mile.

Details

The Celebration Mile will go off on Saturday August 26 at the start of the meeting. Despite the fact that this is a Group Two, the race always attracts a strong field and this year, most bookies have two joint favourites at the top of the field. Meanwhile, GrosvenorSport themselves have Lightning Spear and Beat the Bank locked at 11/4 with the French trained Taareef close behind at 7/2.

The race itself has been run since 1967 and was won in 2016 by Lightning Spear who will defend his title this weekend. As a group two event, the Celebration Mile needs support from the corporate world so this is an important sponsorship and one that has been welcomed in traditional fashion by quotes from both parties.

Thrilled

We are thrilled to welcome Grosvenorsport.com as sponsors of the Celebration Mile, which looks set to be a stellar renewal this year.

said Alex Eade, General Manager of Goodwood Racecourse.

The Grosvenor Sport Celebration Mile is a key contest in Goodwood’s and indeed the UK’s racing calendar at what is always very a popular meeting for racegoers.

Replying on behalf of the bookmaker, Steve Munns, head of Grosvenor Sport said:

We are really excited to be sponsoring the Grosvenor Sport Celebration Mile, which is always a great race at one of the most beautiful racecourses in the world.

This is our first horseracing sponsorship and we are certainly planning to extend our portfolio in the future. Horseracing is very important for us and we are committed to supporting British racing.

This isn’t the first time that the Grosvenor Group has been involved in sports sponsorship and it follows an active current campaign that sees them link up with Fulham FC as the main shirt sponsors for the 2017/18 football season and beyond.

Diversifying

The benefits of tying in with a high profile football club are obvious and even through Fulham are currently in the second tier of the English game, Grosvenor will still enjoy great exposure at the West London club’s Craven Cottage Ground while a further audience of millions will see the brand name whenever Fulham are covered by the live TV Cameras.

There can be similar opportunities in the world of horse racing too but these tend to come via the bigger Group One renewals in either the Flat or National Hunt season. By getting involved with a Group Two event such as the Celebration Mile, Grosvenor are just starting out on their journey but it is important for the sport of horse racing that the lesser known races get funding.

It’s a well supported sport overall but horse racing is falling behind football in terms of revenue generated and funds are vital to maintain events across the country. Therefore this is certainly one of the better balanced deals that we have covered in recent times and it’s one that should prove to be mutually beneficial when the Celebration Mile in run over the Bank Holiday weekend.
