ManBetX Extends Snooker Sponsorship Presence
The world of snooker has enjoyed a positive relationship with sportsbook operator ManBetX over the last year and that partnership is set to continue with a new sponsorship deal. Having previously given their backing to the Welsh Open and the Gibraltar Open, the company has been installed as the title sponsor for the Champion of Champions tournament for the next two years.
The 2018 event will be held at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry across seven days starting on November 5th and it will receive extensive live TV coverage both in the UK and in China where snooker continues to grow in popularity.
While many operators instantly seek out the wider exposure that football sponsorship can bring, ManBetX have been loyal to the game of snooker for some time. That approach will earn them a lot of goodwill from the snooker betting community who will be exposed to their brand on a much more regular basis from now on.
Advertising around the tables and on player clothing at the Ricoh Arena will bring ManBetX in front of a new audience and there will be further marketing opportunities on social media channels across the two years of this contract. Snooker needs financial input to maintain all of the tournaments on the circuit so it’s no surprise that the announcement has been welcomed by the governing body.
Chairman of Matchroom Sport Barry Hearn stated:
We are delighted to once again be working with ManBetX on what is one of the biggest events on the snooker calendar.
We have an ongoing relationship with ManBetX, who are a great supporter of world-class snooker and we are pleased that they will title sponsor the Champion of Champions.
Speaking on behalf of the operator, Luis Alvarez-Cervela from ManBetX added:
ManBetX continue to overtake competitors and become a trusted brand through our title sponsorship of the Champion of Champions showpiece event.
We look forward to seeing the ManBetX brand feature alongside many of the best snooker players on the planet.
The original Champion of Champions tournament first appeared on the snooker circuit in 1978, only to be discontinued two years later but it was revived by the Matchroom Team in 2013. It’s an interesting format involving 16 players that have won ranking tournaments over the previous twelve months so the standard is very high and it carries a big prize purse to go with it.
In the modern era, Ronnie O’Sullivan is the most successful player in this event, having won the Champion of Champions in 2013 and 2014 while our defending champion in 2018 is Shaun Murphy who defeated O’Sullivan by ten frames to eight in the final twelve months ago.
For such a successful tournament to come back, attract the biggest names and thrive in a crowded professional circuit is a testimony to the popularity of snooker, but the input from commercial partners is vital. ManBetX has been a good friend to the game for some time now and their backing will ensure that the Champion of Champions continues to grow over the next two years while the operator deserves to attract new custom and interest in return for their ongoing support.
