Mr Green Gets Behind Major PDC Event

Table of Contents

The PDC darts season is heading towards its annual climax with players preparing for the World Championships at Alexandra Palace. From now until mid-December, there are some important tournaments lined up as those players try to find their form ahead of the main event and one of these is the Sports Players Championship.

64 arrow-throwers will descend on Minehead in the West of England for this competition and it has received some important sponsorship news in the lead up to the first match.

Backer

As a direct result of their sponsorship, this tournament will now be known as the Mr Green Sports Players Championship Finals in recognition of a casino and sportsbook who have been very active in this field. Mr Green have recently entered into commercial betting partnerships with Wigan Athletic and Celtic from the world of football so it’s good to see them branching out and getting behind other sports at the same time.

It’s important for the world of darts to receive more backing but the average fan and Mr Green customer is set to benefit too with the announcement that special offers and price boosts will run for the length of the event.

The new sportsbook which was launched in 2016 is already strong in terms of prices on both the PDC and BDO darts so the enhanced odds deals will bring even greater value.

Popular

Speaking on behalf of Mr Green Ltd, their CEO Jesper Karrbrink stated:

We are excited to partner with the PDC and to be hosting the ‘The Mr Green Sport Players Championship Finals’.

Darts is a very popular sport for several of our key markets and we look forward to introducing Mr Green to this passionate fan base.

In reply, the Chief Executive of the PDC, Matthew Porter, hinted at the exposure that their new partner would receive.

We’re delighted to welcome Mr Green as the new title sponsor of the Mr Green Sport Players Championship Finals.

he added.

This exciting tournament which will give their new sportsbook product worldwide exposure as well as great interaction with a capacity crowd in Minehead.

The Fine Print

The exact terms of this deal were not announced and the financial elements have not been made public which is typical for this type of arrangement. We do know that the Mr Green Sport Players Championship will be held in Minehead between the 24th and 26th of November and that it will be broadcast live in the UK by ITV 4.

The channel is a popular one for darts and has a good following so, along with the thousands of fans that will attend the Butlins complex over the three days, many more will be watching back home on TV.

All of that provides the great exposure that was referred to as Mr Green’s advertising and logo will be placed before so many potential customers. At the same time, the PDC made no specific reference to the benefits that their sport will get from the deal but you can be certain that this contract will be a very welcome one.

Darts is very much a booming sport and prize money for the top players has increased exponentially over recent years but only through external funding and partnerships can it continue to develop. As a result of Mr Green’s involvement, the prize fund for the Players Championship Finals stands at £460,000 with a record for 2017 of £100,000 going to the winner.

As such, this is a welcome deal for both parties and we’re looking forward to a great three days of action as the darts world continues its packed schedule ahead of the World Championship.
