Playtech to Sponsor Isle of Man Charity Event

Table of Contents

In recent months we’ve seen a few isolated cases of gambling companies getting behind local charities with important sponsorship. This is a great way for the companies involved to raise their profile while, at the same time, giving back to the community during a period when betting sponsorship as a whole has been getting some mixed press.

The latest firm to make the move are Playtech who are getting behind a London to Nice cycle challenge which is set to raise money for a local charity on the Isle of Man.

Tough Test

The London to Nice ride will cover over 1,000 miles and will take in some gruelling terrain with cyclists having to negotiate the daunting Mont Ventoux. In total, there is a 60,000 ft climb along the way so this really is a tough test for all who are involved.

The beneficiary of the ride is the Children’s Centre, a Manx charity that is naturally delighted to have the backing of Playtech for this headline event on its calendar.

Grateful

Lisa Motley of the Children’s Centre is the official event organiser and will also be taking part in the London to Nice challenge. She welcomed the news by stating:

Our annual cycling challenge is always a great event. Once again we are delighted that 17 cyclists will be taking part in this endurance event.

We are grateful to Playtech as their support will ensure that all of the funds raised by our amazing cyclists will go direct to our charitable services.

As a response, Playtech’s head of regulatory affairs and compliance Ian Ince added:

We are very proud to be raising valuable funds for an independent local Manx Charity.

We know this charity makes a huge difference on the Island and are delighted to be involved in supporting them in this way. We wish all of the participants every success in their journey.

Good News Story

As we continue to report on iGaming sponsorship we see a mixed reaction to news stories but the more that operators such as Playtech get behind charities such as their local children’s centre on the Isle of Man, the better it will be for the industry as a whole.

Even out in the corporate world, the funding that is generated by this type of arrangement is vital and in some cases, it can even be the difference between a sports team surviving or going under.

Charity sponsorships such as this one are slowly starting to increase too. In isolation, Playtech are giving valuable support for this London to Nice ride which starts on April 28 and finishes in France 11 days later but on a wider basis, it opens the way for others to get involved.

And, with Crystal Palace getting involved with the GambleAware organisation, we may have turned a corner and will start to see a better balanced view of betting sponsorship which can only build thanks to good news stories such as this one.
