Atalanta v Manchester City: Odds and Betting Preview

Please keep in mind that all odds mentioned are accurate at the time published on 04/11/2019 2:46 pm and are likely to change.

manchester cityPremier League Champions Manchester City are progressing serenely through Group C and look a certain bet for the UCL knockout stages. Three wins from three leaves Pep Guardiola’s men with a clear lead over Dinamo Zagreb in second place and the English side will be looking to maintain that perfect record on Wednesday night.

Waiting to host City are Italian side Atalanta who have lost all three of their Champions League matches to date. Those respective records might suggest that this game can only go one way but let’s take a look at the markets to see if we can find any betting value.

Event Date: November 6, 2019

Match Odds

Not surprisingly, Manchester City lead the result market by some margin and you can claim Pep’s men at best industry odds of 11/20 with Unibet. The draw is next at a top price of 43/10 with VBet while victory for Atalanta completes the betting at a best of 19/4 with SportingBet.

Atalanta may be struggling in the Champions League but their recent domestic form includes a stunning 7-1 win over Udinese. Overall results are mixed, however, and because Manchester City have won their last five, we have to agree with the bookies here.

Individual Goal Scorers

If you’re not tempted by that figure of 11/20 on a Manchester City win, you can look for better options in the first goalscorer market. Manchester City players dominate this bet with Sergio Aguero starting it all off at best odds of 17/5 with Unibet and 888Sport. Gabriel Jesus follows at a best of 19/5 with Raheem Sterling at a top price of 23/5 and once again, those numbers are from Unibet and 888Sport.

Atalanta’s first mention comes via Duvan Zapata who can be claimed at best odds of 7/1 with Betway. The Colombia striker is on a long term loan deal from Sampdoria and has scored 35 goals in 57 matches for his current club.

Some long shots in this market may include Bernado Silva at a top price of 8/1 and Kevin De Bruyne at a best of 11/1 with BetFred. Both men will pose a threat from midfield but we’ll keep faith with one of our own favourites and tip Raheem Sterling here.

Sterling has produced a stunning return of 13 goals from 14 matches this season and he’s been very profitable for us in the last 18 months or so. You could play a little safer and take the best price of Even Money from 10Bet and SportNation on an anytime goal but we’re looking for better value so we’ll back the winger to open the scoring.

Other Side Bets

Atalanta v Manchester City: Odds and Betting Preview

Pep Guardiola

Starting with some of the more common side bets, Both Teams to Score can be claimed for this game at best odds of 2/5 with William Hill and SportingBet. Atalanta have found the net in all but one of their last five games but City’s defence will provide a tougher test so that price looks a little too short.

In terms of total goals, you can bet Over the 2.5 line and get best odds of just 3/10 with William Hill. However, we suspect you can be braver here and take over 3.5 at a top price of 9/8 with SportNation.

We may need Manchester City to score all of those goals if that particular bet is to come in and that’s because we intend to back City to win to Nil at a top price of 14/5 with Coral. Pep’s men have conceded just one goal in their Champions League campaign so far while Atalanta have scored only twice. You could look at the handicap betting as an alternative but 14/5 looks reasonable when you consider those scoring stats.

Finally and on the same theme, a Correct Score bet of Atalanta 0 Manchester City 4 is on offer at 20/1 with Ladbrokes and BetFred. It may seem ambitious but that’s not a bad price if you want to take a small wager at longer odds. It really should be a stroll for Manchester City and we’re looking for these three tips to give us a profitable 90 minutes.

Best Bets:

  • Raheem Sterling to score the first goal at 23/5 with Unibet
  • Over 3.5 Goals at 9/8 with SportNation
  • Manchester City to win to Nil at 14/5 with Coral
